In 1979 Mr. Brandt started a Tire Wholesale and antifreeze company that he merged with Tires Plus in 1985 to become the third largest stockholder. When he joined Tires Plus as the Vice President of Wholesale, the company only had five stores. Just 10 years later, Larry became
President of Tires Plus in 1995, a position he held until Tires Plus was sold to Morgan Tire & Auto in August of 2000. In the 15 years that Larry was part of the Tires Plus senior management team, the number of stores grew from 5 to 144.
After the sale, Larry started MSB Tires, LLC in 2001 with two former executives of Tires Plus and was named CEO. MSB operated seven Tires Plus licensees in Minnesota and Iowa until he sold that company to TBC Corporation in October of 2010. He was also a former Chairman of the Tire Alliance Groupe (TAG) from 1998 to 2000 and is still a member.
Larry is currently President of the United Tire Group and started Brandt Marketing, a consulting company that works with tire dealers to help them increase sales and profits, along with helping them to design exit strategies.
Larry also has a consulting agreement with Brentwood-based Comdata Corporation. Comdata helps tens of thousands of automotive fleet companies consolidate and control their fuel and maintenance purchases. Brandt assists Comdata in aligning automotive service locations with Comdata’s fleet customers looking for tire and maintenance services.
Larry also serves as the co-chair for TIA’s Environmental Action Committee (EAC). The EAC has been tasked with developing best practices for tire dealers so they can fully participate in the “go green” movement.
